With the Canadian mining industry constantly growing, our Cobra Structures installation team started off 2020 in Northwestern Ontario with a major project: a 30,000 square foot fabric building warehouse for a high-end mining client.
Our industry connections and proven capabilities led the client to selecting Cobra Structures as the right choice as their full turnkey provider. The client required two fabric structures, this heated warehouse being the larger project.
Cobra Structures installed this Genesis Building in Northwest Ontario, Canada.
The 150’ wide 200’ long clear-span warehouse was the first of two fabric buildings we erected for the client. The warehouse is fully insulated and features controlled applications such as heating, lighting, fire suppression, and other electrical components.
The clear-span interior allows maximum storage capacity at the mining site.
For the building type, we recommended our Genesis Building. The Genesis is a popular option among commercial warehouses as its free-span webbed trusses provide maximum storage space, allowing equipment to move around with ease. This Genesis structure provides exceptional snow load capacity and its generous profile features a huge clear-span and superior building height for their racking requirements.
The building’s trusses are 65’ tall, a major advantage of our Genesis Buildings.
Another significant feature of this particular project is the 24’ x 50’ truck bay attached to the main fabric building. The fabric-covered bay covers the entire loading area and provides enough width for semi-trucks to back in while still having extra room on each side. Most importantly, it covers the loading area year-round to protect transported materials from any harsh weather exposure.
The fabric building truck bay was a specific ask from the client.
This project was a prime example of our ability to take on any full turnkey project with tailored customizations such as the truck bay. Our installation team spent approximately two months, during the winter, at the mining site in northwest Ontario. Temperatures dropped to below -30 °C when we were on-site, with heavy snowfall too. We proved our team can mobilize anywhere, anytime of the year to complete fabric building projects such as this.
The weather didn’t stop our team and we kept our operations efficient. That meant prioritizing in-depth daily project planning and forecasting high-snow days to plan for any additional support needed.
Day and night, weekday and weekend, our installation team was outside working.
